Abstract
Doxorubicin (Dox), anti-cancer drug, was administered to female mice at a dose of 0.027 mg/ml water once every 7 days for 30 days to determine its toxicity on chromosomes. Adult female mice (Mus musculus) were divided randomly into 3 main groups; control group, control positive group and DOX (chemotherapy group). The results of the present work supported that DOX as anti- tumor dug is cytotoxic and it must be carefully used. Its combination with a strong antioxidant agent is recommended for normal tissue protection.Chromosomal aberrations occur when aspirated bone marrow cells were fixed and stained with Giemsa specific stain, to examine the arrested cell cycle at the metaphase for clearly detect ion and examination of the chromosomal numerical or structural aberration that diagnoses the chromosomal mutations that lead to cancer induction . In the present study it was found that there highly statistically significant difference between total chromosomal aberrations at control and all studied groups. While the chromosomal aberration is classified into numerical and structural.
