Abstract
Moxifloxacin hydrochloride (MXF) belongs to the class of broad-spectrum antibacterial fluoroquinolones agents. This therapeutic approach is mostly utilised for the management of acute bacterial sinusitis resulting from the presence of susceptible microorganisms, acute bacterial chronic bronchitis, mild to moderate community intravenous pneumonia, as well as skin and soft tissue infections, with minimal occurrence of sequelae. Various analytical procedures are employed in the quality control of this medication to ascertain the MXF, thereby ensuring its efficacy and compliance with safety standards. Validated analytical procedures play a crucial role in accurately quantifying drug components in pharmaceutical materials, as they are necessary for precise product quality control. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the analytical methods that have been developed for the measurement of MXF throughout the previous decade, spanning from 2007 to the present. Moreover, a comprehensive exposition of various methodologies, such as UV spectrophotometry (30), spectroflurometry (8), chromatography (10), and electrochemical (9) approaches, employed for the determination and quantification of MXF is presented. The analysis of the matrix involved the examination of various aspects, including analytical conditions, detection limits, and the solvent employed in sample preparation. This compilation offers important insights and essential information regarding quantification methods for MXF. It aims to aid the scientific community in selecting the most optimal and cost-effective approach for drug analysis in pharmaceuticals and biological samples.
