Abstract
Swimming pools water samples of three swimming pools located in three different cities of Sharkia governorate (10th of Ramadan city, Zagazig and El-Salhya) in Egypt was collected and submitted for testing to evaluate and record the water samples compliance to the national and international water quality standards. Physical characteristics, chemical characteristics and microbial characteristics of the swimming pools water samples were tested and evaluated according to the Egyptian guidelines of swimming pools water. Observation and analysis of the effect of different time periods and different operation conditions on the physical, chemical and microbial characteristics of the water samples was also carried out. Identification of the bacterial isolates isolated from the water samples was performed by different techniques. Antibacterial activity against the bacteria isolated from the tested swimming pools water samples was studied using ten different antibiotics. Minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration of the tested antibiotics for each isolate was determined and recorded.
